Chairman, PATA Japan Chapter |

Dear Member,
First of all, allow me to thank you for your
continuous support of our chapters activities. As you may already
be aware, I, Nobutaka Ishikure, Executive Officer of Japan Airlines,
was appointed Chairman of the PATA Japan Chapter at the 2003 Annual
Chapter Meeting, held on June 16, 2003. Additionally, the PATA Japan
Chapter Secretariat has been transferred from the Japan National Tourist
Organization (JNTO) to Include Ltd, international public
relations consultancy specializing in the travel industry.
JNTO acted as PATA Japan Chapter Secretariat
for more than 40 years, and the positive contributions made during
that time are highly appreciated by the travel industry. Without JNTOs
valuable contributions, promoting tourism in Japan would be an impossible
task, and JNTO will continue to be closely involved with future PATA
Japan Chapter activities. By transferring the secretariat to a private
PR agency such as Include Ltd, we will be able to reenergize
PATA Japan Chapters activities in areas where JNTO was unable
to. The PATA Japan Chapter plans to implement a variety of activities
through PATAs global network to support outbound tourism activities,
whilst at the same time promoting Japanese inbound tourism. As New-Style
PATA, the Japan Chapter will live up to the high expectations
that you have.
The travel industry is currently reeling from
a succession of hardships, including the Iraq conflict and the emergence
of SARS, yet we can see overwhelming potential for overcoming these
difficulties. Through the development of ground-breaking projects
such as the Visit Japan Campaign, the PATA Japan Chapter will prove
to be a beneficial association for all chapter members. As such, your
support and cooperation with the PATA Japan Chapter are greatly appreciated,
and we look forward to working closely with you in the future.
